The Pre- Kinder room offers  learning spaces for up to 20 children aged 2.5 – 3.5 years of age . This age tends to have different needs regarding toileting, rest and relaxation, our routines incorporate these needs and begin giving children opportunities for choice within the routines and about their own needs.

We are beginning to build the children’s sense of autonomy, so with assistance children begin to apply own sunscreen and begin taking responsibility for their things such as bags and hats.

We know that children are beginning to share with us and their world who they are and what their interests are, to support this our learning environment offers self-selection experiences based on the children’s needs and interests within the room. Our program offers a range activities including sensory, imaginative, construction, art and natural play.

Our program will encourage children’s social skills and support them to build respectful and trusting relationships with both their peers and educators within the service. Through play and discussion, we will support children to begin to develop an understanding of fairness and explore communities and cultures of themselves and those around them.

This room will begin further exploring community roles with visits from the emergency services and other community members to build on ideas and further their knowledge of their world.

At this age children are beginning to seek their independence and our educators work to support them in doing so. Our educators will create environments and routine moments which assist them to build skills and be independent through self serving meals, drink stations, dressing selves and applying own sunscreen.
